We are not community-generated clones. Our youth have the ability to be unique and can ascend above the moral levels of their community. Although it is true that we are the results of our social experiences, “Everything we know about morality and moral life, or anything else, for that matter, is finally a community enterprise and achievement” (ibid., p.17) Our private decisions and achievements are the outcome of our social experiences, and we cannot exist or accurately depict them apart from that experience. By improving the lives of at-risk youth, you will improve the lives of the communities in which they reside. Destination Achievers is committed to the upward mobility of at-risk youth by rendering pedagogy through programming. The programs that will be available to the youth are mentoring, tutoring, anger management, conflict resolution, employment-related services, recreational and cultural enrichment, information technology, detention center outreach, and court advocacy. Destination Achievers possesses the notion that there is no child to problematic that cannot be reached through nurturing and the proper guidance from others. It is the vision and commitment of Destination Achievers to facilitate the proper direction, guidance, and pedagogy for at-risk youth so that they may reach their greatest potential in life for the betterment of society.
